County deputy wrecks squad car responding to scene

A Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputy wrecked his squad car this morning responding to drunk driving call.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to the area of Loon Lake in the southern portion of the county at approximately 5:28 a.m. Friday morning, in regards to a potential intoxicated driver with the vehicle stuck in a yard., according to 1st Sgt. Chad Hill, Public Information Officer.

After two deputies had arrived on scene, radio communication was lost with the officers.

Deputy Sheriff Lou Mediano had just came on-duty and was responding to the last location of the officers when his squad car left the roadway in a curve at CR 900 South and CR 675 West.

Mediano was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital with a laceration to his head. He was discharged in stable/good condition.

Mediano was just hired as a full time deputy with the KCSD last week.
