Four North Manchester charged with stealing from Walmart

Four North Manchester residents have been arrested in connection with a series of thefts at the Warsaw Walmart.

Frances Moore, 61; John Leonard Glenn, 61; June Ann Johnson, 60;and Sarah Ann Winkler, 79, all of North Manchester, face multiple felony charges including theft and corrupt business influence.

According to a probable cause affidavit from the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office, on August 15 a Warsaw police officer responded to a theft charge at Walmart.

Upon arrival the officer met with Walmart’s loss prevention officer, who advised she saw four adults trying to a push a cart of items through the lobby without paying. When confronted, they left the scene quickly, according to the affidavit.

The loss prevention officer told police that Walmart had flagged the four adults after watching the group on surveillance video. The video shows John Glenn and Frances Moore refunding a ladder on July 28, and then taking a separate ladder out of the store without paying for it.

On August 5, the four adults were in Walmart again, allegedly working in conjunction to steal items. Then back again on August 11 and August 14, where similar activities occurred.

The affidavit alleges the group stole several items including movie discs, a generator, adult diapers,and other items. The total value of the items is estimated at $1,613.77.

Glenn is charged with one count of corrupt business influence, a level 6 felony;  one count of theft, a level 6 felony; three counts of theft, class A misdemeanors; and one count of attempted theft, a class A misdemeanor.

Moore is charged with one count of corrupt business influence, a level 6 felony; one count of theft, a level 6 felony; three counts of theft, a class A misdemeanor; and one count of attempted theft.

Winkler is charged with one count of corrupt business influence, a level 6 felony; one count of theft, a level 6 felony; two counts of theft, all class A misdemeanors; and one count of attempted theft, a class A misdemeanor.

Johnson, who has a prior conviction for theft in Elkhart County, had her charges enhanced. She faces one felony count of corrupt business influence and four counts of felony theft, all level six felonies.

All four were booked into the Kosciusko County jail Monday afternoon. Each is being held on a $10,250 bond.
