Man arrested for beating mother of his child, violating protective order

A Claypool man has been arrested for battering the mother of his child.

On January 11, an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded to a domestic battery call with the victim at Kosciusko Community Hospital.

When the officer arrived he spoke with a man who said he received a call from his daughter who said she needed a ride, but was not sure where she was at.  He was able to find her at the county highway garage located just outside of Warsaw.

When he found his daughter, she had blood coming from her face and was confused.  He drove her to KCH for treatment.

Police spoke with the victim whose eyes were red and she said her nose, right eye and face hurt, she also had dried blood on her nose and mouth area.

She said she had been fired from work and need a ride, so she called Jordan Scott. While Scott was taking her home, she received a text message from a coworker and Scott became angry and wanted her cell phone. She refused to give it to him and he started hitting her in the face.

Scott, 25, of Claypool, stopped his truck and the victim excited the vehicle. Her vision was blurred, she felt disoriented, and was having a hard time figuring out where she was at.  She called her father, who came and found her.

The victim told police she is 14 ½ weeks pregnant with Scott’s child and that the two had been to doctor’s appointments together for the baby.

Police spoke with Scott who said he had been home all day with a family member that could vouch for him.  Officers spoke with the family member who said she had not seen Scott all day.

Scott told police he should not be in contact with the victim because of a protective order she filed against him last May.  He said he had taken the woman to work a few days prior and should not have.

He was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Jan. 11. Scott is charged with battery causing bodily injury to a pregnant woman, a level 5 felony; battery with moderate bodily injury, a level 6 felony; domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor; and invasion of privacy, also a class A misdemeanor.

His bond was set at $10,250.
