One Ten Meatery Gets Riverfront Alcohol License

Kosciusko County Alcohol and Tobacco Commission approved a new  license for One Ten Craft Meatery Thursday, allowing the restaurant to serve other alcohol besides wine.
The restaurant, which has been open for a little over a year and already holds a wine license, was able to apply for a three-way license outside the usual per-capita quota because it falls within a newly established riverfront district, owner Jason Brown explained to the board. Warsaw declared that segment of Buffalo Street an economic redevelopment area in October and the riverfront designation, which required the involvement of government funds for establishment, was given the go-ahead when it was announced in December that the Warsaw-Fort Wayne region was picked to receive $42 million through the Regional Cities Initiative.
Brown said he did the legwork on the riverfront district after deciding he wants to expand his business, which will soon include the property next door at 112 Buffalo St. The riverfront designation and extra alcohol licenses allow for “major growth for small guys,” he noted.
The license also differs from usual because he’s technically renting it from the City of Warsaw for $1,000 a year, he said, which gives him another reason to stay on his toes.
Warsaw City Planner Jeremy Skinner said today the riverfront district has been established “as far as the city is concerned” and that the city already has already given its approval toward Brown’s three-way alcohol license.
The commission voted to give its approval toward the new license after hearing that Brown doesn’t currently plan to expand into late-night hours and that he intends to be diligent in training his servers on alcohol laws.
Also Thursday, the commission approved renewals with no violations for Marsh Drug #7056, Warsaw; Pizza King, Warsaw; and Duffy’s Pub & Grub, Syracuse. They tabled a renewal with violation for United Deli, Pierceton, because no one attended the meeting to represent the business.
