107.3 WRSW wins 2019 Cardinal Community Service Award for Riley Radio Days

A local radio station is being recognized for their impact on the community.

107.3 WRSW was named a recipient of the 2019 Cardinal Community Service Awards this week.

The Indiana Broadcasters Association is issuing the honor for WRSW’s work on the Riley Radio Days fundraiser.

The radiothon has been held for the past 8 years, raising over $500,000 for the KC Riley Kids Fund.

Co-founders of the KC Riley Kids Fund Alan Alderfer and Mike Bergen started the fund to help Kosciusko County families who have children receiving treatment at Riley Children’s Hospital, providing donations to cover fuel, food, and lodging for them. Half of the money raised goes to the hospital itself.

In 2019, 107.3 WRSW’s Riley Radio Days raised $80,115 for the KC Riley Kids Fund.

The on-air fundraiser features interviews with families affected by the work done at Riley Children’s Hospital, empowering them to share stories of both triumph and grief.

WRSW will be awarded a trophy for the 2019 Cardinal Community Service Award at a ceremony scheduled for August.

The success of Riley Radio Days has made WRSW one of only 70 TV & radio stations being honored by the Indiana Broadcasters Association this year.
