911 call released in potential Columbia City kidnapping

Columbia City Police are asking for your help in solving a potential kidnapping in Columbia City.

At 8:21 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 20, the Columbia City Police Department received a 911 call from a woman living at the Park Terrace Heights apartments. She said a young girl was being taken against her will by a man. The woman said she could hear the child screaming “mommy.” The woman then proceed to tell dispatch that it looked like the girl and the man got into a vehicle described as a silver, late model, long-style vehicle parked near Deer Path Lane. She said the vehicle was last seen traveling toward Jefferson Street.

Officers searched the apartment complex, the YMCA and surrounding neighborhood, but they were unable to locate additional leads or witnesses. Meantime, as of Friday, Feb. 23, there have been no reports of a missing child from the area. However, detectives with the Columbic City Police Department are asking that if you have any information regarding the incident to contact the department at 260-248-5121.
