Warsaw shooting victim was a Warsaw High School sophomore

WARSAW — The 15-year-old victim in a shooting Monday night in Warsaw has been identified.

Damian DeHoyos was a sophomore student at Warsaw Community High School. 

The Kosciusko County Coroner’s office confirmed the identity to the Times-Union.

DeHoyos died Monday night following a shooting that was reported around 8 p.m. in Suburban Acres Mobile Home Park just north of Warsaw.

He died at the scene, and another 15-year-old who has yet to be identified was taken into custody and faces a preliminary charge of reckless homicide.

An obituary posted by Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home said his death leaves behind a devastated community of family and friends.

He was born on May 27, 2010, in Warsaw, to his late mother, Briana Patricie DeHoyos, who passed away two years ago.

The obituary added that “Damian wore a serious expression like armor, but underneath was a boy of immense sweetness and heart.”

Family and friends may visit from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2026, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.  

A funeral celebrated by Father Wilson Corzo is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Saturday at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home.  A graveside service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
