August is the month of contests at North Webster Community Public Library.

Westerns is the theme for the August reading contest. Patrons are invited to check out western books, audio books and DVDs, then join the round up by entering the title along with their name and phone number in a drawing for a chance to win a prize. You can enter a drawing slip for each western themed item you check out, so the more you check out, the more chances you have to win. The drawing will be held the first week of September and the winner will be notified by phone.

Also in August, have fun playing the Famous TV Parents Match-Up Game. Stop by the puzzle table in the library and fill out a game sheet, trying to match the TV shows with the correct set of characters that played parents on the show. Add your name and phone number on the game sheet and drop it in the drawing for a chance to win a prize. The drawing will take place at the end of August.

If you enjoy browsing through magazines, save on costly subscriptions and visit the library’s magazine section. You will find a variety of magazines to choose from and a comfortable lounge area to relax in while enjoying your favorite magazines.

Looking toward September, the adult services department will be offering a weekly chair yoga class 11 a.m. on Wednesdays beginning Sept. 8 taught by Library Director Heather Barron. Participants will learn yoga poses while sitting as well as standing using a chair for support. The class is free and open to adults of all ages and fitness levels.

Due to staff training, the library will open late at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 17.
