Amish Family Escapes Serious Injury After Buggy Crash In Kosciusko County



KCSD Press Release – An Amish family escaped serious injury today after a horrific crash in northern Kosciusko County.  


Kosciusko County Sheriff's Deputies responded today at 8:33 a.m. near the intersection of CR 1350 North & CR 300 West after receiving a 9-1-1 call of a buggy vs pickup truck.  Officers and emergency personnel arrived and found an Amish buggy that had been struck severely from behind, laying in a the ditch area.


K.C.S.D. Deputies located the initial driver, Jeffery D. Lanning, 25, Bremen, who stated that he had been traveling westbound on CR 1350 North, approaching CR 300 West, and was distracted. He did not see the buggy until the last minute, striking it at normal road speed.


The buggy was being operated/controlled by Diane Borkholder, 29, New Paris.  She, along with her three children (ages 4, 2, and a new born child), were all transported to Goshen General Hospital with minor injuries by Multi-Township E.M.S. from Milford.
