Atwood Man Arrested On Battery Charges

An Atwood man was arrested early today on domestic battery charges in the presence of a child under the age of 16, a level 6 felony.  Anthony Wayne Miller, 34, of 111 E. High St., Atwood, was arrested at 2:46 a.m. Thursday for domestic battery. According to a probable cause affidavit from the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Officer, on July 7, 2015, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department Officer Rick Oliver responded to a domestic battery call at 111 E. High St.

When Oliver arrived, he spoke with a female victim who had been crying and had scrapes on her knees. She told police she and her husband, identified as Miller, were having an argument. Miller allegedly knocked her down from the backside, causing injuries to her knees.  While Oliver was speaking with the victim, he noticed her dress was torn and she had marks on her back and shoulders. She stated the marks and ripped dress were the result of Miller throwing her around the yard.
The officer spoke with Miller who said nothing happened. Oliver also spoke with the couple’s child who stated she saw what took place between her mother and father.
Miller is being held in the Kosciusko County Jail. No bond amount has been set.
