August 17th Trial Date Set For Brandon Woody

A trial date has been set for August 17 at 8:30 a.m. for Brandon Woody, a Syracuse man charged in two murders in February.
The jury trial is anticipated to last five days. Woody’s attorney, Scott Lennox, moved to continue the pretrial conference, which has been reset for June 8 at 3 p.m.
Woody, 22, is charged with the murders of Joshua Knisley, 20, and Tara Thornburg, 23, both from Syracuse. Knisley was pronounced dead at the scene on Feb. 19 and Thornburg died later in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Five people including Woody have been arrested in connection to the murders. Kyle Dehart, 22, Syracuse, and Thomas Hursey, 27, Warsaw, are both charged with two counts of murder; Joan Dehart, 49, Syracuse, was arrested for assisting a criminal; and Kyle Dehart’s girlfriend, Ashlyn Nicole Shepard, 21, Mishawaka, was arrested for obstruction of justice.
“My client continues to maintain his innocence,” Lennox said today. “Mr. Woody looks forward to his day in court.”
