Auto shop could be source of oil in Warsaw’s sanitary sewer system

The city of Warsaw is working to clean up oil that infiltrated into the sanitary sewer system.

The leak was discovered June 13 near East Winona Avenue and storage units east of the railroad tracks.

The Times-Union reports the source of the oil has not been definitively determined, but is believed to come from an auto shop renting space in the area.

The shop has since been closed until they can prove they are using an oil water separator.

The city removed hundreds of gallons of the oil-water mix from the sanitary sewer system before hiring a company that will complete the removal in a few weeks.
