FORT WAYNE — Congressman Jim Banks told WOWO radio recently he supports restrictions to keep women from traveling outside Indiana to get an abortion.

The Columbia City Republican made the comments in an interview on the Pat Miller show.

Banks spoke ahead of his plans to attend a March for Life rally in Fort Wayne.

In the interview, Miller said the fight to end abortion continues because women in Indiana continue to travel out of state to obtain abortions.

“I’m for federal legislation. I’m for stronger laws at the state level — whatever we can do to stabilize, to protect babies. That’s what this fight is all about,” Banks said.

Banks, who is in his fourth term as Indiana’s Third District Representative, announced last week plans to run for the U.S. Senate after Sen. Mike Braun said he plans to run for governor.
