Bar Louie murder suspect released because he didn’t get “speedy trial”

We’ve learned more about the conditions surrounding the release of a shooting suspect who faces charges in last year’s shooting outside of Bar Louie.

The judge released Miguel Rosales on Jan. 12 on GPS monitoring, and the highest level of pretrial supervision. Rosales is also required to remain in St. Joseph County while he awaits his next hearing, which will be at 8:30 next Thursday morning.

He also was released because he didn’t get a “speedy trial,” meaning the state wasn’t able to bring him to trial in a legally timely fashion, which is within 70 days of his attorney filing a motion for a speedy trial.

Rosales allegedly has ties to the “Latin Kings” gang. Court documents also say that the family of the victim, Benito Bueno, has been targeted by gunfire at their homes at least four times since the murder on June 11.
