WARSAW — The Lady Tiger Basketball squad won both of their Pool A games Friday to advance to Saturday’s championship game, and they did it in record-setting fashion.
In their first game, Warsaw defeated Peru 89-25. Joslyn Bricker set the single-game Lady Tiger scoring record with 43 points, breaking the record of 37 by Jaclyn Leininger set in the 2004 season.
Bricker was 17-23 from the field, setting a record for most made field goals in a game. Brooke Zartman was 10-14 from 3-point range, setting a record for the most 3’s in a single game as part of a career-high 32-point performance.
Warsaw set a team record with 20 3-pointers for the game, making 20-31 shots from beyond the arc.
In their second Pool A win, the Lady Tigers topped Indianapolis Ritter 84-22. Bricker, who needed 34 points to tie 2004 Indiana Miss Basketball Jaclyn Leininger for the top spot on the all-time scoring list at WCHS, scored 19 points in the first quarter and 28 in the first half.
Then, with 1:27 in the 3rd quarter and Bricker tied with Leininger at 1,607 points, Bricker made the first of two free throws to put her name atop the Lady Tiger scoring list.
Alexis Neely finished the game with 15 points and 20 for the day, and dished out 21 assists between the two games.
Warsaw (16-1) will play Columbia City at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Lady Tiger Tournament final. Warsaw beat the Lady Eagles 70-46 in mid-December.
