Canadian auto company Multimatic adds 2nd Indiana facility

NEW HAVEN, Ind. (AP) — A Canadian auto engineering and manufacturing company plans to expand in Indiana, adding 180 jobs in the Fort Wayne area by the end of next year.

The state of Indiana and Ontario, Canada-based Multimatic Inc. made the announcement Monday. The company said it plans to spend $40 million to establish Multimatic Indiana – New Haven — a 125,000-square-foot manufacturing facility. The company plans to launch operations later this year. The facility will produce steel components for vehicle body structures.

The New Haven facility will be Multimatic’s second in Indiana. It already has a facility in Butler in northeastern Indiana where it employs more than 250 people.

The state of Indiana offered Multimatic about $1.2 million in conditional tax credits and $150,000 in training grants.
