WARSAW ─ Cardinal Services was awarded a $4,000 grant from the Indiana Arts
Commission in 2024 with the support of Region 2 Arts Partner, the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County.

The funds support the activities of Cardinal’s RedBird Art Studio.

The award has allowed Cardinal to purchase supplies that enabled RedBird to increase the
number of artists served in the studio to over 100 individuals.

For the first time, people served by Cardinal who do not attend day services in the main building were able to come into RedBird and create art. Head Start students also visited the studio and had a new artistic experience.

The grant funds also helped increase the number of community partners and exhibitions
available to the public. RedBird has ongoing exhibits at Ivy Tech Community College, the
YMCA, the Alley Gallery, the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce, and Wire & Steam coffee shop.

Upcoming exhibits include shows at the Warsaw Community Public Library throughout the
month of June and at the Lakeland Art Center & Gallery in downtown Warsaw from Aug. 20 through Sept. 27. Lakeland Art Center will host an exhibit opening reception on from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 22 at their gallery at 302 E. Winona Ave. in Warsaw. The reception is open to the public.

Cardinal Executive Director Marcie Arndt said, “We are deeply grateful to the Indiana Arts
Commission for their support of RedBird Art Studio and the artists we serve. In providing these resources, they have helped us to build opportunities for people and expand their experiences. Art adds greater depth and meaning to each participant’s life.”

These activities are made possible in part by the Community Foundation of St. Joseph County and the Indiana Arts Commission, which receives support from the State of Indiana and the National Endowment for the Arts.
