Changes at Dunkin’ drive thru have helped ease congestion

Traffic for the Dunkin' drive-thru is lighter just after 9 AM on Thursday, September 3rd. But typically, cars can be backed up along East Center Street by customers wanting coffee or donuts, causing congestion along the busy road and at times, blocks the drive for the Fire Station. The Dunkin’ Dounts traffic congestion was back on the agenda on Wednesday’s Warsaw Traffic Safety Commission meeting.

Since the issue came forward regarding traffic backups along East Center Street, the coffee shop created a second lane and erected a temporary sign to help shift more cars into the parking lot, but some issues have still been seen during peak times.

The owner of the restaurant has put up a temporary sign in the drive-thru instructing customers to split into two lanes before approaching the menu board. The approach is similar to what is done at Clearwater Car Wash where the line splits in two then in alternating fashion, zipper back into one.

Commissioner Lance Grubbs says they will be talking to the owner about the changes, and also said he appreciates the owner making temporary changes for the time being to help ease traffic issues.

The next Traffic Safety Commission meeting will take place on Tuesday, July 6th.
