Charges Against Abortion Doctor Could Be Dropped

A misdemeanor charge against an area doctor that he failed to properly report an abortion could be dismissed in a year if he follows terms of a pre-trial diversion program. Dr. Ulrich Klopfer is accused of waiting too long to report an abortion performed on a 13-year-old in 2013. State law requires the report be filed in three days. Klopfer didn't report that procedure for six months. The agreement requires Klopfer to pay $330 in fees and other costs, not commit any criminal offense during the year-long agreement, perform 24 hours of community service, report to the prosecutor's office when requested and notify the prosecutor if he moves.
