WARSAW — A Chicago doctor is facing felony charges in Kosciusko County after police say he was giving IV treatments out of his home in Warsaw without a license to practice medicine in Indiana.
Sixty-two-year-old Michael Close has been charged with two counts of practicing medicine without a license and unlawful possession or use of an alleged drug.
Court documents say investigators received a letter raising concerns about a woman’s welfare, claiming that Close was injecting her with IV NAD treatments, which is commonly marketed for wellness but should be done under a doctor’s oversight.
Police say a detective went to the home and found syringes and vials inside Close’s car, and the suspect later admitted he injected the woman, telling police it was B12, which is a vitamin. He also admitted his medical license had been suspended.
The investigation is continuing.
Close is being held on a $100,000 bond in the Kosciusko County Jail, and Warsaw police are asking anyone with additional information concerning Closee to contact the police department.
