The City of Warsaw may soon have a new way to send out communication to residents.

The Mayor’s Office is seeking approval for an app and web-based system called CivicReady at Friday’s Board of Works meeting. It would allow those living in Warsaw to sign up for text messages, emails, phone calls or other alerts the city may want to send out in case of emergencies or other critical situations.

It would also use geofencing technology to allow the city to text people who live in certain neighborhoods in the event of a trash route change, gas leak, or other area-specific notification.

If approved, the system will cost a little over $7,500.
