College football legend Lou Holtz now in hospice care

SOUTH BEND — College football icon Lou Holtz has entered hospice care, according to numerous reports, including one from WNDU.

Holtz is 89.

He coached the Notre Dame Fighting Irish for a decade, highlighted by a perfect season and national championship in 1988.

Over 33 years of coaching, he posted nearly 250 career wins and later became a television analyst for ESPN.

Holtz was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2008.
