Columbia City company to add 32 new jobs

Precision Plastics, Inc. recently announced plans to expand the facility, adding new equipment and 32 new job positions.

Located at 900 W. Connexion Way, Precision Plastics operates in a 87,000-square-foot facility, has more than 185 employees, and is considered one of the top ten largest employers in Whitley County.

The company provides engineered molded components for an array of industries including: automotive, with products ranging from airbag safety components to interior cosmetic covers; industrial products such as agricultural and pump components; and aerospace and defense products.

The company plans to add new equipment including several injection molding machines, and will build an 11,900-square-foot warehouse for additional space.

“We are excited to be expanding again in Indiana,” said Precision Plastics, Inc. Executive Vice President Ryan B. Richey in a press release. “The combination of an amazing work force and progressive state policies that encourage growth made this expansion decision simple.”

The City of Columbia City approved a ten-year tax abatement in support of the project.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation is offering up to $150,000 in conditional training grants from the Skills Enhancement Fund, and Northeast Indiana Works plans to assist with on-the-job training scholarships, computer and core competency training, and customized recruitment and employment services.

“We are proud to support the growth occurring at Precision Plastics,” says Columbia City Mayor Ryan Daniel in a press release. “They are a forward thinking company that embodies the economic development that is occurring in our growing community.”
