Local coronavirus numbers continue to edge up slightly, but not at a rate that health officials find alarming.

In the latest update from the Indiana Department of Health, Kosciusko County remain at a yellow advisory with cases per 100,000 residents up to 140, about 20 higher than last week, and the seven-day positivity rate is at 4.2 percent compared to four percent last week. Teresa Reed with the Kosciusko County Health Department says she is pretty pleased with the numbers.

County Health Officer Dr. Bill Remington also addressed the J&J vaccine news, saying that if you received the shot and have not had any side effects, you should not be worried and not to get revaccinated. Over 13,000 people in Kosciusko County have been fully vaccinated, while over 32,000 doses have been administered. Nearly 1.5 million Hoosiers have been fully vaccinated.

A state run vaccination clinic is coming to Center Lake Pavilion starting Monday. The Pfizer vaccine will be used during this clinic, which is currently the only vaccine approved for those ages 16 and 17. Registration is open and available at ourshot.in.gov. Residents are also encouraged to contact the Bowen Center hotline at 574-347-4256. That hotline is bilingual in both English and Spanish.
