County says Justice Building repairs delayed until Spring

Structural supports along the windows of the Justice Building along Lake Street have been in place since shortly after several slabs of limestone came crashing down on Aug. 29. WARSAW — Repairs to the Kosciusko County Justice Building won’t happen until next spring.

An entryway on Lake Street was heavily damaged in August of 2025 when a limestone slab came crashing down from above a public exit, which still remains closed.

While some of the preliminary work will be done over the winter, County Commissioner Cary Groninger says the contractor plans to wait until spring to do much of the work.

Some of the decision has to do with the materials that will be involved in the project.

The original damage led to a large-scale assessment of the building, which led to the discovery of numerous potential weaknesses in older parts of the building.
The county in July hired Structural Waterproofing and Restoration to make the repairs at an estimated cost of $698,000.
