Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita spoke to a large crowd of people Thursday afternoon in Winona Lake regarding his proposed Parents Bill of Rights.

Rokita opened up the town hall style meeting by highlighting points of what the Parents Bill of Rights stands for and how parents of students can get involved with their schools regarding their education and curriculum.

Numerous comments and questions were asked following his presentation, some from parents who drove two hours to attend the meeting. Two of the public comments came from a parent from Madison County while another was from Brownsburg.

Rokita overall said he was excited and pleased with the turnout of the meeting and how the comments came out.

“We saw that parents were finally getting engaged, more than I’ve ever seen in my lifetime. And we encourage that because this is about raising a family at the end of the day. A nuclear family is the absolute foundational building block of society, and parents wanting to know more about the education of their children should be applauded. We saw that here tonight.” Rokita said to the media after the meeting.
