COVID case average, active cases continue slow fall in Kosciusko County

The daily average of new coronavirus cases in Kosciusko County continues to slowly drop.

In the latest update from the Kosciusko County Health Department on Friday, the seven-day moving average of cases is 73, while the 14-day average is at 76. Both numbers down since peaking in mid-November when both were over 100.

In the week between reports, 503 new positive cases of the virus were reported along with nine new COVID deaths. This brings the cumulative total of cases since March up to 6,195 and 63 deaths. 1,417 cases are still active, down 234 from the week before.

The update on Friday did not have any update on the number of recovered cases.

SUNDAY STATE UPDATE

Another 6,558 Indiana residents have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

The Indiana Department of Health says Sunday in a daily update that confirmed deaths due to the virus increased by 53 over the previous day. Another 334 probable deaths have been reported based on clinical diagnoses in patients for whom no positive test is on record.

More than 464,300 people in the state have tested positive for the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic. Health officials said Sunday that 7,070 Indiana residents are confirmed to have died due to the virus.
