Two people were hurt in a crash near Leesburg on Saturday.

The Times Union reports it happened shortly before 6 a.m. on North C.R. 300 E near East C.R. 750 N.

The SUV was heading north when it left the roadway and hit a tree.

The driver and a 2-year-old boy were both taken to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne for treatment of injuries.

Inside the vehicle, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies found a small plastic straw that tested positive for methamphetamine, a pipe that smelled like marijuana, and an unknown yellow powder in a plastic bag.

A witness says he saw the crash and helped the driver out of the SUV. He told officers that the 2-year-old was not buckled into the car seat he was sitting in.

The crash remains under investigation.
