WARSAW — Dalton Corporation has announced plans to close the Warsaw foundry, leaving 262 workers without a job.

Employees were informed this week by the parent company of Dalton.

The factory along Winona Avenue has been in business for more than 110 years.

The company is in the middle of a holiday shutdown, and offices were closed on Tuesday afternoon. An employee outside of the offices at the corner of Lincoln and Jefferson streets said nobody would be available to comment on the closing until Monday.

That person, who did not offer his name, did confirm the basic facts about the closing, which is expected to happen Feb. 27.

The closing is not yet listed on the Indiana WARN website.

Dalton has been a longtime supplier of castings.
