More than 22,000 votes uncounted in St. Joseph County — that is, until now… and now that they’ve been counted, three local races have flipped. Democrat Jason Cichowicz has unseated incumbent Republican Jim Fox as Probate Court Judge. Also… Oletha Jones beat incumbent Stan Wruble on the South Bend School Board… and Democrat Joe Taylor has defeated Republican Troy Dillion for State Representative of District 7. The votes that went uncounted were absentee ballots. Officials are still trying to figure out why those votes were not factored in on election night.
Election results in Elkhart County were delayed after a memory card from a voting machine was accidentally locked up in a church. The South Bend Tribune reports that the card wasn’t retrieved until Wednesday morning. Full numbers will be available later this week. The memory card had 194 voting results saved on it.
