Dispatcher Loses Job After Man Was Found Dead Hours After Calling 911

A Lake County emergency dispatcher has lost her job, and another one suspended, after a man was found dead in a Gary church hours after calling 911 for help. Lake County's E-911 department fired six-year-veteran emergency dispatcher Sherrie Williams over the mishandling of a June 6th emergency call for medical services made by an off-duty Gary transit police officer. The agency says another dispatcher, Vanessa Reese, was given a three-day suspension. Burt Sanders called 911 asking for help around 2 o'clock last Saturday morning and was found dead inside a Gary church several hours later by a relative.
