Drought conditions easing across area

In the December 10th update, drought conditions continue across western parts of the Northern Indiana CWA, but an improved look since summer. (Map, data provided by the US Drought Monitor)

Recent rain and snow in the past couple of weeks has helped ease the precipitation deficit in areas.

The latest update from the US Drought Monitor shows dry conditions across much of the area, with drought conditions easing across the southeastern half of Kosciusko County, which has been in a “moderate drought” according to the monitor since late summer. The Warsaw Airport weather station reported just over an inch of rain in the month of November.

Precipitation numbers have also caught up in areas of Whitley, Wabash and Miami Counties as dry conditions have been erased. Rain is forecast for the weekend, with snow possible on Sunday. Some of the rain could be heavy at times, which could help many areas catch up on rain deficits.
