Elderly Couple Hospitalized After Wednesday Accident

An elderly couple driving west on Ind. 30 in a Chevy HHR rear-ended a semi tractor-trailer Wednesday at 11:28 a.m. According to Pierceton Town Marshal Tim Sammons, the driver of the semi, Roger Gordon, 54, Wolf Lake, was stopped at the intersection of Ind. 30 and 13 when a driver in the lane next to him informed him a vehicle had hit his truck. William Zimmerman, 78, and his wife Marlene, 72, of Hartford City, were in the vehicle. William told police he didn’t see that the truck in front of him had stopped. Both William and Marlene complained of chest pain and were transported to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Pierceton Police Department was assisted by Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Pierceton Fire Department and Lutheran EMS.
