Elkhart Man Convicted On Child Molesting Charges

An Elkhart man considered to be a friend of his 12 year-old victim and the victim's family has been convicted of child molestation. 35 year-old Edgardo Henriquez was found guilty of one count of child molesting as a Class A felony during a two-day trial in Elkhart County Court. The conviction came after jurors heard two days of testimony from the victim, her sister, and her mother who called Henriquez a friend who often visited on the weekends and played with the victim and her siblings. The victim told the jurors she went to Henriquez for support and comfort when she struggled in school or had issues with her peers. Henriquez denied having sex with the victim, though DNA evidence suggested otherwise.
