Elkhart Man Found Guilty Of Child Solicitation

It took an Elkhart County jury just 10 minutes to convict a man of child solicitation. His young victim testified that 34 year-old Darnell Parks asked for sex. That was in July of 2013. Parks was arrested last fall. This week, Parks failed to appear for his own trial. The State was able to proceed with the case because Parks previously acknowledged his trial date. A warrant has been issued for his arrest. Once he's taken into custody, Parks faces a sentence of 6 months to 3 years. But that's not all. Because Parks was on probation for dealing cocaine at the time of the offense, he faces an additional 8 years of incarceration.
