Elkhart man goes to trial for Goshen man’s murder

An Elkhart man accused of murdering a Goshen man, then dumping his body in LaPorte County last year is officially on trial.

The trial of 41-year-old Scotty Irvin began Monday. He’s accused of killing 41-year-old Mark Huber and dumping his body at Kingsbury Fish and Wildlife Area in rural LaPorte County in November 2016.

Huber went missing after he was dropped off for work at the Kercher/Dierdorff intersection in Goshen and wasn’t there when it was time for him to be picked up. A local utility company employee found Huber’s body three days later in a sewer line at the fish and wildlife area.

Huber was killed with a gunshot wound to the head, and Irvin is charged with murder.
