Elkhart woman accused of having sex with teens, giving them alcohol

Authorities in Elkhart County believe that a 22-year-old woman wasn’t being honest when she called in late for work at the Bashor Children’s Home.

Instead, court documents allege that Ashley Monday, Elkhart, spent part of that July 20 day and night in an Elkhart motel room with two teenage boys.

The Elkhart Truth reports Monday was there with 17 and 18-year-old runaway boys who bolted from the Bashor Children’s Home that day. Monday is accused of giving the boys alcohol and having sex with them over the course of that day and night.

Monday worked as a care worker at the child welfare agency in Goshen.

The boys, whose names were not released, were from St. Joseph and Marion Counties. It is believed Monday had contact with the teens before July 20, according to court documents.

Monday allegedly bought a bottle of whiskey from an Elkhart Wal-Mart. One of the teens told detectives he and Monday had sex twice while he was drunk. The other teen had receipts from the hotel and alcohol purchase, according to the Elkhart Truth.

The boys were picked up in South Bend after Monday dropped them off the day after.

Monday was arrested November 23 and posted bail on November 29. She is charged with a felony count of child seduction, along with a misdemeanor charge.
