If you are interested in becoming an Indiana Basic EMT, there will be a class starting Nov 19, held at 499 West Washington Street, North Webster.
The class nights – Tuesday and Thursdays 6pm – 10pm.
In emergencies, people of all ages, races, genders, regions, and faiths, may rely on EMT’s to respond quickly and competently. From car accidents to gun shots, childbirth to accidental poisonings, heart attacks to broken limbs, EMT’s must be prepared for and skilled in providing immediate care until patients can be transported to a hospital if necessary.
Becoming an Emergency Medical Technician takes training and experience. EMT’s must know how to assess an emergency scene, control bleeding, apply splints, assist in childbirth, administer oxygen and certain medications, and perform CPR and other basic life support skills.
Emergency Medical Technician – Basic, is the minimum level of training for all ambulance personnel. At the end of the classes you will be required to take a state written exam at a regional testing site. The state testing also includes a “skills” exam where you will be tested on your demonstration of patient assessments and treatment skills and use of emergency medical equipment.
The class will be starting Nov 19 through to May 26, 2016.
Cost for the class is $600. (payment plan available)
You must be at least 17 years of age, have a valid driver’s license, current CPR card (or obtain rescuer CPR prior to field clinicals) and have or in the process of obtaining Hepatitis vaccine and TB test (within current calendar year) results.
