Walnut St. \nThrough rare historical photographs paired with recent views\, historian and Pierceton native Joan Hostetler will bring Pierceton’s downtown to life. Topics include the oldest surviving Italianate-style structures dating to 1882\, the great fire of 1895 that destroyed the west side of First Street\, the work of hometown architect Frank Logan\, and how the antiques trade put Pierceton on the map. The downtown commercial district is remarkably intact and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. \nThis Historic Preservation Month program is part of the Pierceton Public Library’s America 250 celebration and is sponsored by the Library\, with assistance from the Pierceton Heritage Association.
