FBI seizes documents in search of Muncie City Hall office

MUNCIE (AP) — FBI investigators seized more than a dozen boxes of documents during a search of the Muncie city building commissioner’s office.

The search on Thursday comes nearly nine months after Mayor Dennis Tyler confirmed the FBI was investigating the city government for possible wrongdoing.

Tyler says the city intends to cooperate fully in the investigation and looks forward to a complete resolution of any issues.

Investigators spent several hours in the City Hall office. The (Muncie) Star Press reports FBI agents also searched the building commissioner’s home, but that the city attorney said she didn’t know what investigators were seeking.

FBI spokeswoman Cathy Burton said she couldn’t release any information about the Muncie search.

No arrests or charges have been announced stemming from the investigation.
