Formal Charges Filed Against 5 Notre Dame Football Players

Formal charges have been filed against the five Notre Dame football players arrested in Fulton County. Max Redfield, who was cut from the team, faces a charge of carrying a handgun without a license and a charge of possession of marijuana. Te’Von Coney, Kevin Stepherson, Dexter Williams and Ashton White each face a count of possession of marijuana.

They’ve also faced internal punishment, according to coach Brian Kelly and, barring any action from the University, are expected to play in the season opener. Police in Fulton County pulled them over for speeding and having a broken tail light, a week ago Friday on U.S. 31. Investigators say police smelled marijuana and also found an unlicensed loaded handgun in the vehicle. The five players were scheduled to appear in court for an initial hearing this morning.
