Former Warsaw Mayor receives award from Big Brothers Big Big Sisters

The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana held their 4th Annual Big Celebration in Winona Lake last week.

As part of that evening, they honored former Warsaw Mayor Ernie Wiggins with an award for passionate volunteerism, strong community leadership, and a lifelong commitment to serving others.

Wiggins was the recipient of the 2017 Charles D. Smith Award for his involvement in not only Big Brothers Big Sisters, but also his work with the Warsaw Rotary Club and his volunteering for the Salvation Army.

A press release from the non-profit organization notes Wiggins currently serves on the Aviation Committee and Kosciusko Economic Development Corporation, and holds a County Council seat.

The Charles D. Smith Award is by no means the first honor that Wiggins has received. He has been awarded for his professionalism and dedication to his community several times, including the Russell G. Lloyd Distinguished Service award in 2008, given to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to local government for the betterment of their community.
