(ORIGINAL) Four people were injured in a three vehicle crash along US 31 in Miami County on Saturday afternoon.

Indiana State Police say 38-year old Krista Marie Shephard of South Bend was southbound on 31 near County Road 1200 North, approaching a work zone. For an undetermined reason, Shephard did not slow down and rear ended a minivan, driven by 57-year old Tamara Burton of Kokomo.

The force of the impact forced Burton’s minivan into the back of another SUV, driven by 58-year old Barbara Ann Rohde of Peru. Burton and a passenger in her vehicle, 63-year old Linda Taylor of Russiaville were flown to a Fort Wayne hospital, with Taylor in critical condition.

Shephard and Rohde were taken to Howard Community Hospital in Kokomo with non-life threatening injuries. No charges have been filed at this time and the crash remains under investigation.
