A local 6-year-old girl named Addilyn is battling a rare disease and cancer, and a GoFundMe page is collecting donations for her family.

The fundraiser, organized by Reanna Dittman and Courtney Wallen on behalf of Nicole Kubley, has collected $15,282 of the $15,000 goal as of Wednesday.

On the page, Dittman, wrote, “As most of you know, Addi was diagnosed with Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome, also known as SDS, at a very young age. The last few years have been nothing but busy, with keeping Addilyn’s health in check, lots of doctor visits and lab work, which means lots of poking of needles and uncomfortable visits. Fast forward to March 8, 2022, Addilyn’s parents got the call that no parent could ever imagine. She’s in bone marrow failure and there are cancer cells.

“Fast forward again, four months later – Addilyn spiked a fever towards the end of June, which landed her in the ICU. Aside from spiking a fever, they also found out that she had pneumonia. Having a compromised immune system, makes it harder for Addilyn to fight pneumonia on her own. She began having troubles with her blood pressure and her oxygen, which required her to need to be put on oxygen. Things quickly worsened and she needed to be placed on a ventilator.

“Since then, her pneumonia has resolved, but she is currently still on a ventilator, with failed attempts of weaning her off.

“We are asking for friends and family to consider donating towards the Kubley family for their expenses, such as hospital bills, food, etc.

“Please, do not feel the need to donate. Share the page, follow her journey, pray for them, including the doctors and nurses who are working endlessly to help Addilyn and her family.”

On Monday, Dittman posted on the GoFundMe page: “I am absolutely blown away from all the love and support that the whole entire Kubley family has received, from each and everyone one of you. It saddens my heart to say, that Addilyn most likely will not recover. She has been placed on hospice and the plan of action right now is to keep Addilyn as comfort as possible. The doctors and nurses have all done an amazing job at keeping her comfort.

“There are going to be a lot of hard conversations and very uncomfortable decisions to be made within the next few days. I ask everyone to please pray for them. Pray for comfort, pray for peace, just pray.”
