Goodwill’s Warsaw Career Center is hosting several events in the month of September. These include a Job Fair on Tuesday, September 20, with Indiana Coated Fabrics, Flexhaust, Menards and Staffmark attending. Additional companies are pending and will be confirmed as the date approaches.
There will also be a Writing a Cover Letter Workshop Series beginning on Wednesday, September 21. This three class series will cover using and setting up a Microsoft Office Word document and writing the content / body of the letter. It will also examine how to list skills and qualifications for a position.
The Introduction to Microsoft Word is a three class series introducing people to Microsoft Word, with a general overview of its tools and formatting functions. The class will get people familiarized with the technical aspects and language of the Microsoft Office Program. We will use tutorial to introduce the basics, as well as provide hands on usage with the Word application. This event is free and open to anyone who would like to participate. Class times meet Wednesday, September 7 from 10:00am to 11:00am, Thursday, September 8 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm and Tuesday, September 13 from 10:00am to 11:00am.
A community Job Fair will take place Tuesday, September 20th from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, featuring: Indiana Coated Fabrics, Flexhaust, Menards, and Staffmark (with openings at RR Donnelly’s KGP Logistics, and more). These companies will be looking for candidates on the spot at the Warsaw Career Center. This is not an exclusive listing of the companies that will be participating in the job fair; more may be added as the event draws closer. Candidates should come dressed in business casual attire and ready to interview with resume in hand. We can print, edit, update, or build a new resume for job seekers who stop by in advance of this event. We also offer mock interviews to help them prepare. All services are free.
Writing a Cover Letter Workshop Series is a three class series that will guide participants through writing a cover letter. The class will start with using and setting up a Microsoft Office Word document, and writing the content and body of the letter. We will also cover introducing participants to the employer, listing skills and qualifications for a position, and how to properly close out a cover letter. We will review, edit and ultimately format the single page letter to look professional and ready to attach along with a resume. This event is free and open to all who would like to participate. Class meets Wednesday, September 21 from 10 :00am to 11:00am, Thursday, September 22 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm and Tuesday, September 27 from 10:00am to 11:00am.
