Goshen HS Mascot Under Review Again

It is not a new debate, but the Redskins of Goshen High School have been put in front of Goshen school board members again.

Two parents separately addressed the school board at its regular meeting this week and asked it to consider retiring the Redskin. They told the board the ethnic-based mascot could be causing harm to minority students and that even if just a few students are harmed by it, it's an important discussion worth having.

The Elkhart Truth reports the school board president asked the superintendent to stay in communication with the speakers. The Redskins name has been fiercely defended by many Goshen High students and graduates during the past several years.
