GRANT COUNTY, Ind.–A child was hit and killed in a Grant County crash Monday night.

State police say Keith Everhart, 29, of Hartford City was driving a 1988 Olds passenger car east on County Road 600 South near County Road 1050 East and hit Neveah Braggs, 2, who was on County Road 1050 East.

The speed limit was 55 miles per hour and Everhart was not required to stop at the intersection.

Braggs was rushed to a hospital, but she did not survive. Everhart was not injured.

Officers are trying to figure out why Braggs was on the road. Police don’t believe alcohol or narcotics were a factor in the crash.

The crash is still under investigation.
