Don’t be surprised if you see people sleeping on the Kosciusko County Courthouse lawn. Tonight is the third annual Winter Warmth Sleepout Event for Combined Community Services.

The event aims to raise awareness of the need for utilities assistance in Kosciusko County, but also acts as a fundraiser. Those who camp out on the Courthouse lawn fund raise their stay at CCSSleepout.com.

CCS Director of Emergency Assistance Christie Borzeniatow tells News Now Warsaw’s IN the Know that not everyone who attends has to sleep there overnight.

“If sleeping out isn’t your thing, you can just come and hang out. We’ll have games, snacks, live worship.”

Borzeniatow says the event is part of the mission of Combined Community Services to help residents when they get disconnect notices.

“Families that face disconnection face living in the cold,” she explains.

The Winter Warmth Sleep Out event is on Friday October, 20th from 6-11 p.m. at the Kosciusko County Courthouse.
