Health Concerns Sideline Special Prosecutor

A special prosecutor’s health concerns will not delay the upcoming jury trial of Kosciusko County Sheriff Aaron Rovenstine.
Special Prosecutor Nelson Chipman confirmed this morning that he will not be participating in the jury trial set to begin Tuesday due to health reasons.
Chipman, the Marshall County prosecutor, said his deputies would be handling the case, under his authority. Deputies Tammy Napier and Matthew Sarber will handle the trial, according to Chipman.
Rovenstine was indicted in February 2016 on 10 felony counts, including bribery and official misconduct.
Former Grace College professor Mark Soto and mixed martial artist Kevin Bronson also were indicted.
Prosecutors allege Bronson was attempting to raise money for a movie to be made about his life in martial arts, gangs and drugs and his subsequent conversion to Christianity. While trying to raise the funds, Bronson was arrested on drug charges and the movie was never produced. Bronson was later arrested on drug charges.
Rovenstine is charged with agreeing to accept money to allow Soto and Bronson to meet unmonitored while Soto was in the Kosciusko County Jail.
Soto and Bronson have a separate jury trial on felony charges scheduled for April.
