Local health officials continue to stress the importance of safety during the recent spike of COVID cases in the area.

Communicable Disease Nurse Teresa Reed from the Kosciusko County Health Department spoke at Wednesday’s press conference from Warsaw City Hall, saying the good news with the recent spike is it has not continued to rise in an “exponential fashion.”

Speaking on nursing homes, Reed says the state is testing all employees of those facilities as nursing homes have had 48 percent of the COVID deaths in Indiana.

Testing also continues at MedStat locations in Warsaw, Syracuse and Nappanee, where 160 tests have been done. That testing is free for Kosciusko County residents.
